Parkview Junior Coding Club and Intermediate Robotics Team
Parkview is very excited to announce our participation in the YRDSB Hour of Code. Our coding club will start on Monday November 23 during the lunch hour and will be open to all students in grade 4, 5, and 6 interested in this opportunity. Thank you to Ms. O’Yazdi and Ms. Prasad for taking on this initiative!
In addition to the Junior coding club our intermediate students will be offered a chance to join our very first Parkview Robotics Team. Ms. Kemp, Ms. Birtch and Ms. Rae Vair will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to discuss the details.
Since the equipment needed to run both the coding club and the Robotic teams is limited, students who join will be expected to attend consistently and show appropriate collaboration skills.
Flu Season: Keep us updated with your contact information
As the cold and flu season approaches, students sometimes get sick at school. Please make sure that your contact information is up to date and that your cell numbers as well as your emergency contact numbers are reachable. Recently, we have had a number of students who are sick and we have not been able to get a hold of parents. Please email any changes to your contact information to parkview.ps@yrdsb.ca
Dental Screening

Gifted Screening 2015-2016
The York Region District School Board (click here for parent letter) offers the opportunity for all students in grade three to participate in system wide screening for possible identification as a Gifted student. Stage One of the screening will take place between December 8th and December 9th, 2015. The students will be given the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT) a test of thinking and reasoning skills. Each student will complete the test at the same time as their classmates, and will be supervised by a teacher. Students who meet the YRDSB intellectual criterion on the individual screening will be contacted for participation in stage 2 screening.
If you do NOT want your child to participate in Stage One of the gifted screening process please inform your child’s teacher in writing by December 4th, 2015.
