Student Safety stock-photo-17274783-safety-first-sign-with-clipping-path
Please remember to be present in person to meet your child’s bus on time. Students who are not met by a predetermined parent or caregiver will not be released to other parents or caregivers. For safety reasons, these students will be kept on the bus and returned to the school where our office staff will call their parents to be picked up.

Please do not offer to take other neighbour’s children if they are not at the bus pick up on time as we have had a number of children who parents cannot find them when they arrive late. This creates considerable panic and concern for the parents and the office staff when the parent who was late, calls the school and we are not able to locate their children right away. Thank you for keeping our students safe and for being on time for pick up.

Fred Varley Plaza Construction Informationstock-photo-44101638-traffic-cones-and-hardhat-3d-road-sign-icon-isolated
We have received information from the Unionville Ratepayers Association that construction will start February 1 and last about 2 years. Work will be from 7:00am to 7:00pm weekdays only. Up to 60 trucks/day will enter/leave the site using Sciberras Rd, Eureka St, Main Street and/or Fred Varley Drive.

The pedestrian walkway from Eureka to Fred Varley will be closed. Worker parking will be largely adjacent to the GO tracks on the space used by the Farmer’s Market on Sundays.

Please be mindful that this additional truck traffic may affect your child’s walk to school and your commute if you drive your children. Make sure that your children are extra vigilant when walking to and from school and we ask that parents are extra cautious and patient when driving. School zones are safety zones…no speeding or passing in our bus loop please.

Additional Elementary and Secondary P.A. Days
As a result of provincial labour negotiations, a P.A. Day has been added for all York Region District School Board elementary schools on Friday, May 6, 2016 and secondary schools on Friday, June 3, 2016. You can see the full updated school year calendars on YRDSB’s website.

These additional P.A. Days are mandated by the Ministry of Education. On these dates, teachers will be taking part in professional development on provincial education priorities identified by the Ministry of Education.
