On Friday, April 15th all students at Parkview received a letter informing parents about the updated health curriculum. These letters explain some of the updates to the health curriculum and may answer some questions that parents may have.

YRDSB Mental Health Presentation
As you know, Mental Health, Mathematics and Modern Learning are three focus areas of the York Region District School Board.

To support the goal of mental wellness, Unionville High School will be hostdownloading an evening parent engagement session on Wednesday,  April 20th  @ 6:30 p.m.  

The YRDSB Mental Health lead, Michelle Cassidy will be offering a presentation regarding keeping our students mentally healthy for parents of students in grades 7, 8 and secondary school.

BAG2SCHOOL RECYCLING COLLECTION:
Bags will go home this week with students to be used for donating clothing, linens, logotowels, fabrics etc as part of our recycling program. Any large bags can also be used. Bring donations to the school lobby from May 2-5/16.

Summer Institute (SI)
The York Region District School Board’s Summer Institute is a program that offers academic, recreational and athletic programs and activities with intentional links to the Ontario Curriculum for children and youth entering Senior SI-LogoKindergarten to Grade 8. Weekly Sessions July 4, 2016 to August 12, 2016

Programs are offered at locations in Richmond Hill, Markham, Stouffville, Newmarket, Woodbridge, Vaughan and Georgina from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm with extended YMCA before and aftercare programs available at all locations.The registration information is available on the board website:

Earth Day Activities
On Monday the 18th Cyclepath Markham will be offering Parkview STUDENTS a free bike check-up again this year.  Students can bring their bikes to the area outside the Intermediate doors (beside the parking lot) from 3 to 5 pm.   At the same time, bike donations (adult or kids) for Africycle will be accepted.  

On Friday April 22, all Parkview students will be participating in our Annual Earth Day Clean-Up.  If you have gardening gloves at home that your child(ren) could use for the clean-up, please send them to school on Friday morning. Gloves will be provided to students who are unable to bring gloves from home.

We also encourage students to bring litter-less lunches and to bike or walk to school this week, if possible.
