Happy Mother’s Day
For all the amazing mothers, we wish you a wonderful day of pampering and being with family!
Amazing News from our Parkview Robotics Team
As many of you may know, the Parkview Robotics team came in first place at our regional competition. We were all so excited for the team and their growth and learning in this new area. Last week our intermediate team competed at the Provincial competitions held in Waterloo. Not only did they demonstrate a growth mindset they showed team spirit, collaboration, problem solving and excellent communication. All the skill needed to be a 21st century modern learner. If that was not impressive enough, they dominated and took home the title of 2nd place among 18 teams many of which are veterans in this area.
Congratulations to Parkview’s 1st Robotics Team!
Parkview P.S. 7th Annual Diversity Day Event
Diversity Day is intended to educate our students while celebrating the diverse identities and cultures in our school and in the greater community. Last year’s event was a great success which brought together people of multiple cultures under one roof. Through engaging and interactive pavilions, several identities were showcased through examples of dress, music, dance, visual arts, and various exciting, educational activities. The Parkview community again eagerly anticipates exploring aspects of the people who make Canada the wonderful place it is. At the beginning of May, we look forward to enjoying learning about the people of our world at Diversity Day!
Sincerely,
Mr. Rainford and Ms. Prasad
Outdoor Education trip to Varley Gallery
As a result of a Ministry initiative to promote quality programming in Outdoor Education, Parkview is grateful to be using grant funding to have Grades 3 – 8 students visit neighbouring Varley Gallery in June. The planned two hour morning program for all our groups will include a guided one hour gallery tour as well as offer students age appropriate instruction in outdoor painting/sketching at Too Good Pond. This is a unique opportunity to combine exposure to an important heritage site in Unionville with Outdoor Education. We are fortunate to be able to walk to the venue and engage students in art appreciation and inquiry as well as expose them to quality art instruction as they try their hand at their own pieces. Who knows, the next Group of Seven ‘member’ could be in our midst?!

RECYCLING ELECTRONICS:
This Sat May 14/16 from 10-1 is the time to get rid of any old electronics! Bring them to the large bin in the school parking lot. Invite neighbours, businesses and family to come by the school and make a donation! The funds raised are based on
weight collected. The more recycled materials we have the more funds we can raise for our school!

Many thanks to all the families who donated to this recycling fundraiser! It was a great success!

Jump Rope for Heart
Did you know that more than 8 out of 10 Canadian children between the ages of 5 and 17 aren’t active enough to support optimal health and development, putting our children at serious risk for heart disease at a young age. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Let’s work together to make a difference.
