Week of October 30th

October 31st

Costumes

On Monday, October 31st students are invited to wear a costume for our Parkview Pride Assembly. Our JK to Grade 3 assembly will begin at 8:40 and will end with our primary students parading in their costumes in front of parents in our front foyer. Students will then parade around the school to show their costumes to our older students. Parents will be invited to line the edges of our front foyer in order to get a good look at our students after this assembly concludes (likely between 9:15 and 9:30). Parents are asked to remain in the front foyer and not follow students into the school as this creates a security risk.

Our Junior/Intermediate assembly will occur right after the parade ends most likely between 9:30 and 9:45AM.

Please make sure all costume parts are labelled with your child’s name as your child may want to wear regular clothes after the assembly. You may want to send a bag labelled with your child’s name, for your child’s costume.

No Weapons

Students celebrating this occasion in costume at our school must follow the Safe School’s policy. Costume accessories including, but not limited to, toy guns, knives, axes, swords, etc. are not in compliance with York Region District School Board’s Safe Schools Policy #668.0.

Food/Gifts

Please do not send any food or gift bags for school.

Recess

Students will be going outside for recess on Halloween. Please be sure they are dressed for the weather.

Safety

Review Halloween safety rules with your child if they are going Trick-or-treating!

Suggestions:

  1. Make sure your child can see clearly in their costume.
  2. Be visible- use a reflector stickor, or add a bright colour to the costume.
  3. Do not run into the road. Check the road before crossing.
  4. Do not eat candy without an adult checking it.
  5. Have a plan- in case you get lost.
