Libray Renovations

The library will be undergoing a number of renovations this summer and the entire collection will need to be boxed up so that resources do not get damaged. Due to the renovation, library sign out will be closed as of June 1st. We would appreciate your help by returning all library books in a timely manner to assist with this.

Parent Survey Extended to May 31st

As you may know, we are inviting parents and guardians to participate in a survey to support student achievement and well-being. The timeline for the survey has been extended to May 31, 2017. If you haven’t already had the opportunity to complete the survey, we would encourage you to please take 15 minutes to complete the survey online.

Paper copies are available in English, Chinese, Farsi, Gujarati, Hebrew, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tamil, Urdu and Vietnamese.  If you prefer to complete the survey on paper, please contact the school to request a paper copy. If you complete the survey on paper, please return it to the school in the envelope provided.

The surveys provide the Board and our school with valuable information about how you feel about the school and your child’s education.  Results from the survey will be used to identify areas to be addressed, monitor progress, and plan strategies to support students.

The information you provide will be anonymous and individual responses will be kept strictly confidential.  Individuals will not be identified in any reports resulting from this survey.

We appreciate your participation in this voluntary survey. Your thoughts and insights will help further our vision as we work together to promote student achievement and well-being.

If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Thank you.

A Message from our Trustee

As we near the end of the school year, I want to thank you for all that you do to strengthen our schools and communities. This is a good time to celebrate your child’s achievements over the past year.

One of our goals in the Trustees’ Multi-Year Plan is to “continuously increase student achievement and well-being through a culture and caring and learning.” That includes a culture that emphasizes engagement and positive relationships among all the members of the school community – students, staff members, families and community members.

You, as parents/guardians, are our most important partners when it comes to education. The support you have provided to your child throughout this past school year will help to strengthen our schools and make a difference to your child’s learning.

I encourage you to continue engaging your child in learning throughout the summer, and to help them to see the connections between what they are learning in school and the world around them. There are so many opportunities to do this over the summer, whether that’s planning a budget with your child, enjoying the natural beauty in York Region, reading a book or visiting local sites. Whatever your plans are this summer, I wish you all a successful end to the school year, and a safe and enjoyable summer.

Moving towards the digital age: Agendas Optional

Again this year, Parkview is continuing the move towards more intuitive ways of communication.  Our teachers and the office are relying heavily on digital communication and are finding the paper agenda at times redundant and ineffective.  We recognize that some families will still prefer to have an agenda as they transition therefore, we will have agenda planners available for purchase on School Cash Online.

Agenda planners are now on sale for $5.00 the next school year 2017-2018 on Schoolcash. They are optional but available for students in Grades 1 to 8.  If you wish to purchase one for your child for next year, please go to the School Website and click on the Schoolcash tool.  These will be available for purchase online until June 9 We will hand out agendas to those who order within the first week of school.

If you have not registered your child on Schoolcash, you will need your child’s Student ID # before going on the school’s website.  If you do not know your child’s ID #, you can call our school secretary at 905-477-2172.
