Graduation 2017
A Huge THANK YOU to the graduates and the grad committee for making Graduation 2017 a fabulous and memorial event. A special thank you to Anne Walsh and Tess Papadopolous and Mr. Hewson for their leadership and hard work. The evening was wonderful and due to the fund raising and the great fiscal management of the committee, the graduation and yearbook cost our students nothing this year.
Class Placements/Organization
Over the summer, we will be revisiting our organization as we have new students the arrive and other students that go to a new school. Parents and students will find out their child’s placement on the first day of school (September 5th, 2017). Students will need to come to school at 8:15 on the 5th of September and where they will be greeted by staff with large signs indicating where the various grades will be lining up. When students approach the line, a teacher will let them know which class they are in.
More information will be forthcoming the last week of August.
Final Spirit day of the 2016/17 School Year – Wednesday June 28th
Wednesday, June 28th will be our final spirit day for this school year. The social cabinet decided that this will be a 70’s and 80’s and/or Canada Day Spirit Day. Staff and students have the option of wearing 70’s and 80’s clothing and/or Canada Day spirit wear, in order to earn points for your colour house.
Parkview Assembly – Wednesday June 28th
In order to accommodate the line up of performances and other amazing Parkview entertainment on June 28th, we will be moving the Junior/Intermediate assembly from 9:30 to 11AM.
So this means that our:
Primary Assembly (JK-Grade3) will run from 8:40- to its conclusion sometime before first recess.
Junior Intermediate Assembly (Grade 3/4-8) will run from 11AM to 12:20PM.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
Thursday June 29th – Early Dismissal – 11:30 am
All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 29th, 2017 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29th, 2017 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:30 am. Buses will be running at 11:30 am.
Library Books
Thank you to those students and staff that have returned all of their overdue library materials. If you still have overdue materials, please do your very best to return the items, or pay for lost items, or donate a book(s) to replace items that you have lost. Thank you very much for your cooperation. The library will be painted and also be getting a new tiled floor this summer. In September, sign out may be a little delayed as we will need to unpack all of the boxes and get the books and resources back on the shelves. If you are able to volunteer in September to help with this process, please speak to Mrs. Vikse in September to organize a time(s) that you can come to help.
MOVING
if you are moving to another school for September, please let Ms. Dilworth and Ms. Cheung know as soon as possible via email at:
