Parkview Happenings…

Thank you to those parents that were able to join us for our Parent Tea last week. We engaged in a discussion about assessment practices and report cards. We invite all available parents to join us for our next Parent Tea taking place on February 22 @ 9:00am. We will be sharing information about the Zones of Regulation… a program to support and promote positive self-regulation and well-being. If you plan to attend this session or if you require a translator please email the school.

A reminder to all of our parents that the Primary Movie Night (K-3) will take place on this Thursday, January 25th, 2018. The movie will begin @ 6:30pm… although the doors open @ 6:00pm. All students must be accompanied by an adult, supervision will not be provided. Remember to bring a blanket or sleeping bag. Thank you to our School Council for organizing this event!

Settlement and Education Partnership in York Region (SEPYR)  – New to Canada? Do you have a child enrolled in a York Region Public school? We’re here to help you. Funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, SEPYR provides settlement services in many languages for newcomer students and their families in their local schools. Through this program, we are pleased to offer newcomer families support in the following areas: education, employment, language training, housing, health, family related issues, youth issues, finances, library/recreation and more. We have a settlement worker who can speak Mandarin, at Parkview Public School on Monday mornings to support you. You can contact the School Settlement Worker:

  • Ms. Julie Zhang – Cell Phone: 416.567.4026; Email: jzhang@ccsyr.org

We will be hosting our Annual Student Book Exchange in February this year.  Starting Monday, February 5th, students can bring in books they no longer wish to read.   From the selection of books donated, participating students will be able to select books to take home starting Tuesday, February 13th. We will send home additional details in our January Newsletter (to be shared at the end of the month).

We would like to remind all of our families that our goal is to work together to support the well-being of all our students. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to working in partnership with our Parkview Community.
