Parkview Happenings…

Thank You to School Council for making all of the arrangements for a successful Junior Movie Night… what a fun evening! Thank you to our Junior Families for your support. Thank you to all Parkview staff and student ministers who supported this event!

For families that order treats on Fridays, they will be given out this Monday instead.

Our School Council is raising funds to improve our school playground. 100% of the fundraising (raffle) ticket sales will be used to purchase new equipment and plants for the playground and outdoor area and their installation. Raffle tickets may only be purchased through School Cash Online and tickets will be sent home with your child prior to the assembly. Prizes will be drawn and winners will be announced during the Parkview PRIDE assembly on January 31st. Specific details and schedule to follow.

A message from your School Council – Parkview’s Student Book Exchange is back! It’s time to sort through your books and donate the ones you are no longer enjoying. Please bring in gently used school-aged books on the following dates: February, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th. Please note books will not be collected on Tuesday, February 5th. Kids magazines in good condition will also be accepted. Students will receive a voucher for each book or magazine they donate. From Tuesday, February 12th to Friday, February 15th, students will be able to trade in their vouchers and choose from the selection of books donated.

To support our Grade 7 and 8 families with the transition to Secondary School, Ms. McGuire (our guidance itinerant and transitions support) will be available, by appointment only, on Day 5s from 8:30am – 9:10am. School bus service may be cancelled due to inclement weather, extreme temperatures and/or poor road conditions. A bus cancellation message will be available at School Bus City, or by calling 1-877-330-3001, or by following @YRDSB on Twitter. On an inclement weather day when buses are cancelled, the delivery of school lunches (Pizza, Pasta and Subs) will be canceled and rescheduled for another day. Students will need to bring a lunch on those days.

In order to ensure safety, we are asking all families to: drive slowly when arriving to school to drop off student lunches; not park in the staff parking lot; ensure students are not dropped off earlier than 8:15am as there is no supervision prior to this time; discuss with students the need to go straight home at dismissal time. Parents/guardians must inform the office & classroom teacher, if there are any changes in dismissal routines.
