Week Two

It was a great first week back at Parkview PS!  We are off to an amazing start and looking forward to the year ahead.

All families received a Start-up Package as well as a Book of Forms.  These forms should have already been returned to the school as the due date was Friday, September 6th.  If you have missed the due date, please return the forms to the school as soon as possible.  This includes the Emergency Health Care Package if your child has any allergies/medical needs.

If you are bringing a hot lunch for your child or they have forgotten to bring their lunch and you are dropping one off, you may use the lunch table located in the main foyer.  This is a ‘drop-off’ area.  For safety reasons, please exit the building after you drop the lunch off. If you require further communication with your child at lunch, you are welcome to wait (by the lunch table near the office) without blocking the main entrance or library doors. This will allow our front door to remain closed and accessible, which will ensure the safety of all our students.

In regards to after school, we ask that parents do not enter the school parking lot near our dismissal time (between 2:45pm – 3:15pm). Please drive slowly and cautiously as you approach our school property. There are many children, staff and families around so please be cognizant of the flow of traffic and yield to the side, safely, when waiting for your child.  If you are meeting your child at their bus stop, please make sure you are there on time as the bus driver will have to drive your child back to the school if you are late.

This week, the students participated in a start-up assembly reviewing school-wide expectations and routines.  Ask your child about some of the responsibilities they will have this year at Parkview PS!

Come join us for Parkview’s COLOUR House Run on Friday, September 13, 2019.  We invite parents and guardians to come and cheer on the students as they participate in Parkview’s first spirit event of the school year. All students have been assigned to a colour house and are encouraged to wear their house colour for the run. We will begin running the Year1/Year2 classes first and then will follow with grades 1 right through to grade 8. It also doubles as a tryout for those students in grades 4 to 8 that want to be on the school’s cross country team. Parents are encouraged to come and cheer on all the students as they complete the run. The colour house run times will be shared next week.   A reminder that if you are taking pictures then you can only take pictures of your child for the purpose or privacy. Videotaping is not permitted. We are also respectfully asking that pets remain at home; pets are not permitted on school property during the instructional day. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to a great year! Go Parkview go!
