Parkview Happenings…

It was great to see so many families out at our annual colour house walk/run on Friday! However, due to the rain on Friday, not all classes were able to finish the run.  The grade 5-8 classes will be finishing the run on Monday afternoon between 1:30-2:30.  The grade 1-4 classes were able to finish.

We have some Staff announcements to make.  Please join us in congratulating Mr. Cuddahee & Mr. Lamanna on their retirement.  Parkview thanks you for all your hard work!  We would like to give a warm welcome to the new members of our caretaking team, Mr. Bourne and Mr. Sinclair.   We are also very happy to announce our new staff members Ms. Marshall and Ms. Elahie who will be joining our Parkview Community as educational assistants.  Welcome to Parkview!

A request to all parents to remind their child(ren) to use their assigned exit doors when entering and exiting the building. This supports our safety in and out of the building. The front doors are to be used only when a student is late arriving in the morning, or is being signed out during the instructional day. We appreciate your support in this matter.

Starting Friday, September 13th until Friday, October 4th, Parkview’s School Council will be collecting unwanted used kid and adult running shoes, as part of our school-wide effort to reduce, re-use and recycle.  We will donate the used running shoes to the Running Free Re-Use Shoe Program.   A collection box will be located in the front foyer.  Parents can drop off unwanted running shoes during the Colour House Run or students can bring in shoes anytime during the collection period.  Please tie shoes together by their laces to keep pairs together.  Thank you in advance for participating in this initiative!

Please remember to return all school start up forms, including medical forms.  If you have any questions while filling them out please contact the school.

We will be sending the office index verification cards home this week.  Please ensure all information is up to date and it is very important to include your emergency contact information.

On Monday, September 16th we will have our first School Council meeting of the year.  The meeting will begin at 7:00pm.  All parents are welcome!

Our SEPYR (Settlement and Education Partnership in York Region) Worker, Julie Zhang, will be at Parkview Monday mornings to support families.  The objective of the program is to help newcomer students and their families settle in their school and community. This program reaches out to newcomer families as they arrive in the school and provides them with settlement information and referrals to education and community resources. Her contact information is as follows, cell phone: 416.567.4026 and email: jzhang@ccsyr.org

Don’t forget to visit our school website for more information and upcoming calendar dates.

Save the date!  Parkview’s Meet & Greet will take place Thursday, October 10th.  Details about this event will be sent out to families in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned!

Reminder to all of our parents that there is no school on Monday, September 23rd as this is a Professional Activity Day.
