Parkview Happenings

Please join us for our School Council Fundraiser. It will take place on Friday, October 25th at Chapters from 6-9pm at 3175 Highway 7.  A portion of the proceeds will go back to our Parkview students for learning materials! Come out to meet Parkview families and buy some new books!  We hope to see you there. Supervision will not be provided.  All students must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, this is not a drop off event. Thank you for your continued support.

Once again, Parkview Public School is pleased to be hosting its 15th annual Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, October 4, 2019. All monies raised through our event will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation to further the cause of cancer research.  Our walk/run schedule will be as follows:

  • Primary division (9:30 to 10:10 am)
  • Junior division (10:40 to 11:20 am)
  • Intermediate division (1:20 to 2:15 pm)

Please join us and support this wonderful cause by donating to our school’s fundraising page at: http://www.terryfox.ca/ParkviewPSUnionville. Thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer.

We invite all parents and friends to join us for our walk or run or just come out and cheer us on. If you are planning to do so then remember not to bring pets and take pictures of your child only to protect the privacy of other students. A reminder to parents that all information in the school start-up package should have been returned to your child’s homeroom teacher to allow for participation (eg. community walkabout).

Orange Shirt Day is on Monday, September 30th.  This day is designed to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.  The annual Orange Shirt Day opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Residential Schools. It is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year. It is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.  Please encourage or assist your child to wear orange this Monday.

Save the Date!  We will be having a Meet the Teacher Night on October 10th.  Stay tuned for more details that will be sent out this week.

Thanks for your support so far with our Running Free Re-Use Shoe Program.  Our front lobby is getting full!  Please remember that we will continue to collect gently used runners at the school until October 4th.

Picture Day is coming!  Mark your calendars that October 16th is Parkview’s picture day!

Hot lunches are back!  Hot lunch orders are now open on School Cash Online.
