Next week, Parkview will be celebrating the new year…2020! We had a school-wide challenge where classes were asked, “How will you ring in the new year to make the world a better place in 2020?” Check out the pictures of all the classes’ contributions…the students certainly rose to the challenge! As part of the week’s festivities of ringing in the new year, the school will have a New Year’s countdown on the last day of school (Friday) and the Intermediates will be having a New Year’s party in the gym.
Popcorn for sale! The Community Class has been working hard to sell popcorn for their upcoming trip to Ripley’s Aquarium. We wish them a very fun and educational field trip! The popcorn sales will be continuing. Please find popcorn for sale on School Cash Online. Pre-ordered popcorn will be distributed every Monday.
The Winter Holiday begins next Monday, December 23rd and continues for two weeks. We look forward to welcoming our Panthers back on Monday, January 6th… 2020! We want to wish all Parkview families a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!
Parkview Colour Houses – The staff and students have now been placed in their colour houses and all students have received their colour house bracelets. In response to some of the feedback from parents regarding the bracelets, we are pleased to announce that we ordered XS child sized bracelets for our younger students all the way up to adult sized bracelets for our older students. Please remind your child to wear their bracelet on any upcoming spirit day to earn a point for their colour house.
In the upcoming new year, the YRDSB will be holding a PA Day for all staff on January 17, 2020. This PA Day’s focus will be assessment and evaluation. Please note that there will be no school for students on this day.

Students are also reminded that they must go home right at dismissal time. Parents / guardians must inform the office & classroom teacher, if there are any changes in dismissal routines. Please do not park in the staff parking lot, particularly during entry and dismissal times. This will help support student safety.
School bus service may be cancelled due to inclement weather, extreme temperatures and/or poor road conditions. In these cases, parents and students should develop alternate care / transportation arrangements. A bus cancellation message will be available at School Bus City, by calling 1-877-330-3001, or by following @YRDSB on Twitter. On an inclement weather day when buses are cancelled, the delivery of school lunches (Pizza, Pasta, etc.) will be cancelled and rescheduled for another day.
