We hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. We have missed our panthers and it is hard to believe that our school year has come to an end! This has been another challenging year, however we are proud of our panthers for demonstrating perseverance, resiliency and for maintaining a positive attitude whether they were engaged in face-to-face learning or online learning. This year we have learned the importance of advocating for others in order to make the world a better place. We have also learned how globally connected we are to one another. In order to help our community overcome challenges we have learned that we need to consider others as we make our decisions. All our actions have an impact on others. Please continue to follow advice that is provided by our medical professionals and Public Health.
Congratulations to our Grade 8 graduates! We are so proud to have been part of your journey and see you grow into responsible young citizens. This year may not have ended the way we imagined or hoped, however we were so happy to see you during our Drive Through Graduation. Remember to use what you have learned to make the world a better place today and tomorrow for everyone!
I would like to thank our teachers, office staff, educational assistants, and caretaking team for all their hard work, flexibility and continued dedication as we adjusted to the many changes this year. Thank you to our School Council, and Parkview families for creating a strong sense of community and for your ongoing support and understanding.
I would also like to thank our staff members for all their contributions to our school community as they leave Parkview to take positions at new schools. Thank you to Ms. Troyer-Lee, Ms. Nadarajah, Ms. J. Lee, Ms. Wilson, Ms. Lakhani, Mr. Michelis, Ms. Meya Unisongi and Ms. Weir. We would also like to wish our Superintendent Ms. Green all the best on her retirement.
A warm welcome to Ms. La Marca who will be joining our Parkview community as the Vice Principal in September. We would also like to welcome the following teacher: Ms. T. Lee.
We know that there are still many questions about what hybrid learning will look like in the 2021-22 school year, and more information will be shared by our school board. Please continue to visit www.yrdsb.ca , Instagram @yrdsb.schools , Twitter @YRDSB, YouTube channel YRDSBMedia, the Board app YRDSB Mobile, TuneIn YRDSB, and the Board’s podcast, available on most podcast platforms.
I would like to wish you and your loved ones a safe summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in September.
Ms. Anand, Principal
A Message from School Council
It has been a school year like no other. We hope that all our Parkview parents, guardians, caregivers and staff have been safe and healthy throughout this time. Thank you to our Parkview Community for all your ongoing support this year. There are many families that will be leaving and we wish them all the best for 2021-22.
It is difficult to predict what school will look like next year, however Parkview School Council has always benefitted from parental guidance and support. If you are interested and would like to know how you might be able to help next year please feel free to reach out to us. Despite the challenging year we have organized various events for our school community, such as a session for families on Nurturing Your Child’s Well Being. We have also supported the school Snack Program and the Grade 8 Virtual Graduation. Earlier this year as a council, we had advocated for improved ventilation at Parkview for students and staff. It is only with our community support that we are able to achieve our goals. Each year our Council meetings are open to all family members and we welcome you to attend next year!
This summer we will continue to raise money for Parkview Public School by keeping our Indigo Fundraiser open. Please visit our Parkview Indigo Page. Remember to purchase a gift card first so our school can receive 20% back and then shop using your gift card! This way the school will receive an additional 3% back! All the funds will be used to purchase books for our school library and your child’s classroom! Happy Summer Shopping!
If you would like to purchase a gift card to donate to the school please email the gift card number or a PDF of the gift card to our teacher librarian Kristin.Vikse@yrdsb.ca
We know that many families have questions and opinions about the Hybrid Learning Model. The School Board will be communicating more information over the summer, however you can reach out individually to our School Trustee Ron Lynn at ron.lynn@yrdsb.ca if you would like some more clarification/information.
We would like to thank the Parkview staff for all their hard work and continued efforts in keeping our children engaged this year. We wish everyone a safe and healthy summer!
