June 20 – June 24

Daily Screening Reminder

York Region Public Health strongly recommends that all students, teachers, staff and visitors wear a well-fitted three-layer mask in classrooms, common areas, including hallways, and while using school transportation.

“Students/attendees, staff and visitors must continue to complete the provincial COVID-19 school and child care screening tool every day before attending school or child care settings. Symptomatic individuals and their household members should follow the instructions on the screening tool for isolation requirements; parents must not send children to school or child care if they are showing any symptoms of COVID-19.”

Additional information about what to do if you have tested positive or been exposed to a positive case can also be found at www.york.ca/safeatschool. questions or visit the Board website to learn more.

June 30, 2022 – Early Release Day

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 30, 2022, an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 30, 2022, only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:30 am.  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after-school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

Treats at school

This is a reminder that treats (food for classmates, toys, birthday loot bags, etc.) should not be sent to school.

School Yard Safety

Just a reminder that students should not arrive at school before 8:15 am.  There is no supervision before 8:15 am.

Please ensure that your child(ren)  comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather.  Students should be wearing proper-fitting shoes such as running shoes.  If it is sunny/hot, students should wear sunscreen, bring a hat, and have a water bottle that they could refill.  On cooler days students should have a light jacket or sweater.

Parents/guardians who are driving to school should review the map below.

  • Parents/guardians should not be stopping on the street (dotted red line on the map) where stopping is NOT permitted and letting their children out, this is unsafe and it blocks traffic.
  • Parents/guardians should NOT park in the school parking lot or bus loop. The parking lot is for staff parking only.
  • Parents/guardians should NOT be parking where there is a solid red line on the map during drop-off or pick-up
  • When dropping off in the loop it is important that you pull up to the front and drive slowly and remain patient as we ensure student safety.

This year we are fundraising to support the following initiatives:

  • Technology- purchasing more iPads and Chromebooks for students
  • Literacy- investing in diverse books and levelled books to support guided reading
  • Well Being- indoor recess activities and more outdoor recess equipment

Since we are limited with the type of fundraising we can engage in,  we are asking that families consider making a donation through School Cash Online.  The donations collected will go directly to supporting our students this year. Donations of $20 or more are fully tax-deductible and receipts will be provided through School Cash Online.

All amounts are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your ongoing support!
