October 3rd-7th

Orange Shirt Day:  It was wonderful to see so many staff and students in orange on Friday for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day!  As we learn more about this day and its significance, we are encouraged to commit to reconciliation year-round.  Murray Sinclair, the former chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission states, “This important work of reconciliation is not a one-day affair. As we say, it will take us several generations to ensure this is forever made a part of Canada’s national memory.”

Colour House Run:  Thank you to our families for coming out to cheer our panthers for our first Colour House Run! What a great way to demonstrate school spirit and bring our Parkview community together!

Book Fair:  The Parkview Library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair the week of October 3rd to October 6th. In order to deter large crowds in the library, the Book Fair will only be open during class time and the library will be closed during recess and lunch time. Only one or two classes at a time will be visiting the Book Fair.

Each class will have a chance to visit the Book Fair in the library twice.  The first visit will be to browse and create a wish list. Then, the students will bring home their wish list to discuss with families which books or other items that they might like to purchase.  It is always up to each family whether or not your child will purchase any books or other items.  If you choose to allow your child to purchase items from the Book Fair, please send money or a cheque made out to Parkview Public School when your child’s class comes for his/her 2nd visit.  Here is a schedule so you know when your child is coming to browse or buy items at this year’s Scholastic Book Fair.

The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open the evening of October 6th during our meet and greet for families to browse and purchase items.  The Book Fair will be open from 6PM until 8PM that evening.

On Friday morning after announcements we will have a last call to purchase items and then the Book Fair will be packed up.  We will plan to have another Book Fair this winter.

A portion of each sale will go back to the school library.

Thank you in advance for your support of the Scholastic Book Fair!
