Thank you to all our Parkview families for supporting our Indigo online fundraiser for the past year! Our school was able to raise approximately $1500, these funds will be used to purchase books for our school library and classrooms. Thank you to our School Council for organizing this online fundraiser.

Please remember to label your child’s items that are sent to school such as jackets, hats, bags etc.

A reminder to families that this Friday, October 21st is a PA day and there is no school for students.

Halloween

Our school board aims to operate guided by the Human Rights and the Ontario Human Rights Code which recognizes the importance of equity, inclusion and human rights. As families, we encourage you to speak to your children about the fact that there are many cultural, religious, socio-economic and personal beliefs that may prevent many from celebrating Halloween.  We need to respect those that do and do not celebrate this day.  Costumes should be respectful of others.  For example, if something is representative of a person’s culture or religious beliefs, then it should not be worn as another person’s costume.

Halloween costumes as always, are NOT mandatory and there should be no pressure to purchase a costume.  Students may choose to:  *Make a costume which promotes creativity and imagination  * Wear the Spirit Day colours (orange and black)  * Wear their Parkview house colours.

No Replica Weapons –Students celebrating Halloween in costume at our school must comply with the Safe School’s policy. Costume accessories including, but not limited to, toy guns, knives, axes, swords, etc. are not in compliance with York Region District School Board’s Safe Schools Policy #668.0. Please DO NOT send these accessories to school with your child. Please note that this policy applies to all students at all levels, including Kindergarten.  Please do not send masks or food/treats to school, this will help ensure student safety. Thank you for your ongoing support. Each classroom will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Markham Foodbank. Please ensure items sent for the food drive are NOT expired or open.

Terry Fox

Thank you for your support for such a worthwhile cause as we continue to share in Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer. If you have not had a chance to donate as of yet, we will continue to collect donations until the end of October. All donations can be made at http://www.terryfox.ca/ParkviewPSUnionville.
