Welcome back!  We hope our Parkview Panthers had the opportunity to rejuvenate and spend time with their families during the March break.  Just before the break, many primary students along with parents, guardians and a number of Parkview staff enjoyed the movie Encanto in the Parkview gymnasium!  We thank Parkview School Council for organizing this event and look forward to the viewing of Raya and the Last Dragon on April 27th for students in grades 4 to 6.  Thank you to our student treat sales cabinet for supporting! We also had our School Council meeting prior to the break and we would like to thank our families for attending. Just a friendly reminder to our families that supervision begins at 8:15am, therefore students should not arrive prior to 8:15am. We would also like to wish all our families who are celebrating a Happy Naw Ruz!

September 2023:  As we begin planning for next year, please inform the office if you are moving or if your child will be attending another school in September.

Save the Date Reminders:  Parkview School Council would like to send a friendly reminder about upcoming activities for students and families!  Please save the following dates: 

  • On May 4th, psychologist Dr. Merry Lin will be sharing valuable parenting tips in a presentation entitled LOVING OUR KIDS TOO MUCH – Healthy Parenting Strategies. The 1 hour presentation will begin @ 7pm. More details to follow via email 
  • School Food Truck Fair on June  8th! More details to follow in the upcoming months!

Ramadan:  Ramadan is a holy month of fasting and contemplation for people of the Muslim faith. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is referred to in the Qu’ran as a blessed month in which the teachings of the Qu’ran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). 

During Ramadan, many Muslims fast during the hours of daylight and increase their focus on prayer and contemplation. At the end of each day the fast is traditionally ended with a prayer and a light meal called the iftar. 

Ramadan is considered a time for Muslims to recommit themselves to cultivating spiritual renewal within themselves and their communities, as well as practicing compassion and generosity for others.

During this time of reverence and renewal, Parkview extends good wishes to staff, students, parents and members of Muslim communities who will be observing Ramadan.

Triple P Parenting Sessions: Triple P Parenting Sessions continue through the month of March.  Parents, guardians, caregivers and community members are invited to attend these virtual sessions.  More details can be found here.

Parenting Program for Farsi and Dari Speaking Families:  Sessions in March and April will be held in Farsi for Farsi/Dari Families to help build healthy relationships with your children. Held virtually in Farsi. Please see the English flyer or Farsi flyer for more information.

Federal Housing Benefit for Renters Who Qualify: The Federal government has introduced a one-time, $500 tax-free benefit for low income renters who: 

  • Have an Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI) for 2021 of $35,000 or less for families, or $20,000 or less for individuals.
  • Spent at least 30% of their adjusted family net income on renting their principal residence in Canada in 2022 

To be eligible you do not need to already be receiving other housing benefits.
