We hope our Parkview community had the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family this past weekend. Students had fun wearing matching items with friends for Spirit Day last Friday. This week, sports continue at Parkview with badminton tryouts and basketball practices taking place. Also this week, our Grade 4 students will be visiting the Milne Outdoor Education Centre for a day of hands-on learning experiences outdoors! Our School Literacy Team will be hosting a parent tea on May 3rd from 8:45am t0 9:45am. The focus will be on building primary literacy skills. More details will follow via email. Our school has invested in recess bags which provide our students with various equipment such as balls, scoops, hula hoops, basketballs etc to use outdoors therefore students should not be bringing equipment or toys from home to use at recess. Just a friendly reminder to our families to park in designated street parking areas, the school parking lot is for staff parking. Please drive slowly when dropping and picking up your children in order to ensure safety for all our panthers.

World Autism Acceptance Month: This year on April 3, 2023, the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) is officially launching a month-long World Autism Acceptance campaign alongside our community partners from Autism Ontario, a member of our Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).
The purpose of Autism Ontario’s Celebrate the Spectrum campaign is to bring attention to the triumphs, contributions and experiences of people from the Autistic community. By fostering acceptance we can build stronger and more inclusive communities and learning environments for students with Autism.
Sikh Heritage Month
On April 1, 2021 Minister Bardish Chagger issued the following statement from Ottawa: “Canada is proud to be home to more than 500,000 Sikh Canadians, making it one of the largest Sikh diasporas in the world. Since the arrival of the first Sikh immigrants in the late 19th century, members of this community have contributed to Canada through their achievements in all areas of society and have helped shape the diversity found within it. Sikhism’s core principles include equality, generosity, openness, and compassion.
Sikh Heritage Month is an opportunity to reflect on the pivotal role that Sikh communities have played, and continue to play, in building a stronger and consciously more inclusive Canada.” During the month of April, Sikh Canadians celebrate Vaisakhi, which marks the creation of the Khalsa and the Sikh articles of faith. Sikh Canadians widely celebrate Vaisakhi, also known as Khalsa Day, across Ontario.
As we begin the month of April, the Parkview community is encouraged to join Canadians who will be coming together to celebrate how Sikh Canadians have made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of Ontario and Canada’s social, economic, political, and cultural fabric.
Equity & Inclusivity: At Parkview we continue to commit to Equity and Inclusivity. Over the years we have invested in many diverse texts written by diverse authors.
